Football coaches undertake courses to improve themselves and take their careers to the next level. Most of these courses are paid and form part of the requirements for starting a career as a Football Coach. For instance, aspiring coaches who wish to fulfil their dream in Europe are expected to undertake UEFA coaching courses.

Some of the courses taken by aspiring football coaches are highlighted below.

UEFA Coaching Courses

To become a professional football coach in Europe, you are expected to undertake the UEFA coaching courses. These courses are at different levels. These are: Level 1, Level 2, UEFA B License, A License, and Pro License. Each is a prerequisite to the next one.

For instance, if a coach from England wishes to have the UEFA Pro License, the most fundamental requirements are:

  • Enrolees must have concluded his UEFA A coaching course
  • Enrolees must have at least 5 years of experience in a full-time position as a coach, assistant manager, manager, head of coaching, academy manager, head of recruitment, technical director, or player.

Additionally, The FA stipulates that applicants with the English FA Award are prioritized over others. Also, those with the FA Advanced Youth Award are desired.

The level 1 and 2 are majorly for people looking to take up a coaching role in their local communities. As a prerequisite, anyone who wishes to undertake the Level 3 or UEFA B License is to take the Level 2 course. The Level B license is also a prerequisite to taking the A course and so on.
