Former Crawley Town manager Gabriele Cioffi first came to the UK game as a member of Gianfranco Zola’s coaching staff at Birmingham City. The Italian spent much of his playing career as a defender in the lower divisions in Italy.

At the time of writing, top level football has returned to the UK and much of Europe after the COVID-19 pandemic, albeit in a much changed format.

Football has seen a huge change over the last decade or so with more top-level sides adopting a possession-based style of play. But has the FA’s change of approach improved youth football at the grassroots level?
